Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has completed a move to Ajax on an initial contract running until the end of the current season.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder was without a club after Tottenham released him in June.
According to BBC Sport on Wednesday, Bissouma’s agreement with the Dutch giants also contains an option to extend the deal for another year.
Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff revealed that the club had been negotiating with the Mali international since August.
“We have brought in an experienced player who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level. He is capable of playing in several positions, and we hope he will be available for selection as soon as possible,” Cruyff said.
Bissouma arrived at Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 and went on to make 111 appearances for the north London side.
His final season at Spurs was disrupted, with the midfielder making 11 Premier League appearances as Tottenham finished 17th for a second successive campaign.
In August 2025, then-Tottenham manager Thomas Frank excluded Bissouma from the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain, reportedly due to repeated lateness.
His switch to Ajax now provides the Mali international with a chance to revive his career, secure regular playing time and return to football in the Netherlands.
