FA launches investigation into Coote video

The Football Association has initiated its own investigation into a video that appears to show Premier League referee David Coote using foul language to describe former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Coote has already been suspended by the refereeing body, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), pending a full investigation.

BBC Sport has also confirmed that the 42-year-old has been withdrawn from an international commitment this week.

However, the FA is also focusing on the nature of Coote’s alleged comments.

Coote reportedly referenced Klopp’s German nationality in one of his remarks, and under FA rules, nationality-based comments can result in an aggravated breach of its regulations.

“We are aware of the matter, and we are investigating it,” said the FA in a statement.
