Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, concluded their campaign at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Cup in Benin Republic with a flawless record, defeating the hosts 1–0 at the Omnisport Stadium in Adjohoun on Wednesday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Having already secured the championship before the final game, the Falconets preserved their perfect run with a 16th-minute strike from in-form forward Ramotalahi Kareem, who emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals.
Kareem latched onto a well-timed through ball, outmuscled her defender, and coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Nigeria an early lead.
Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances to widen the margin, the Falconets were unable to add to their tally.
Benin pressed forward in the second half in search of an equalizer, but Nigeria’s defense stayed solid and composed to secure a narrow yet well-earned win.
The victory completed a perfect tournament for coach Moses Aduku’s side, who topped the table with 12 points from four matches, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one. Ghana finished second with six points, while hosts Benin ended the competition without a point.
Midfielder Kafayat Mafisere was named Woman of the Match for her tireless performance in the middle of the park, while Ghana’s Sarah Nyarko received the tournament’s Best Player award after registering three goals and one assist.
Nigeria’s success capped off a dominant campaign that featured emphatic victories over both Ghana and Benin in earlier rounds. The Falconets began with consecutive 3–0 wins against Ghana and Benin, before defeating Ghana 3–0 again in their penultimate match to secure the title with a game to spare.
