Former Chelsea midfielder files for divorce over paternity fraud

Former Chelsea and Cameroon midfielder, Geremi Njitap has initiated divorce proceedings from his wife, Laure Fotso, following DNA tests confirming that his two children were fathered by her ex-partner.

Geremi, aged 45, asserted that the twins born to his wife Laure resulted from an extramarital affair.

In legal filings, he cited her “destructive conduct” as having disrupted the marital harmony.

The documents also highlight her pattern of deceit, stating that no children were born within their marriage.

Laure initially claimed the twins, born in June 2008, were Geremi’s, leading to their subsequent marriage.

“But the discovery that the children were from her previous partner destroyed the couple’s harmony.

“It caused him a huge emotional shock.”

He further expressed that his wife inflicted psychological harm on him.

Geremi, who made 109 appearances for Chelsea from 2003 to 2007, scoring four goals, also played for Real Madrid from 1999 to 2003.

On the international stage, he was a member of the Cameroon team that achieved consecutive AFCON victories in 2000 and 2002.
