France’s Mbappe trains with bandage after nose break
Kylian Mbappe returned to France training on Wednesday after breaking his nose in their opening Euro 2024 game against Austria.
The 25-year-old was seen wearing a protective bandage during the session and initially trained separately from the team.
It is still uncertain if the French captain will play in their second group match against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday.
The French Football Federation (FFF) previously stated that another update on Mbappe’s fitness would be provided on Wednesday.
Mbappe was substituted against Austria after colliding with defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder during an aerial challenge.
The break was confirmed at a Düsseldorf hospital before Mbappe rejoined his teammates in camp.
The FFF added that a protective mask would be made for Mbappe.
He received a booking following the incident for returning to the pitch and sitting down, thereby halting the game.
Austrian player Kevin Danso, 25, expressed his well wishes on X after the game, wishing Mbappe a “good recovery” and apologizing for the injury.
The French star recently signed with Real Madrid, with his Paris Saint-Germain contract expiring this summer.
France’s final group game against Poland is scheduled for Tuesday.
