Friendly: Flying Eagles to play Next Naija Football Super Star Wednesday in Abuja

The National U-20 team, Flying Eagles, will play the Next Naija Football Super Star team in a friendly match on Wednesday in Abuja.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the friendly is part of the team’s preparation ahead of the upcoming All Africa Games.

The 12th All Africa Games is expected to hold between Aug. 19 and Aug. 31 in Rabat, Morroco.

The Next Naija Football Super Star comprises young talented footballers assembled in Abuja and drawn from across 15 states of the Federation, including the FCT.

Emmanuel Okorie, the Technical Director of the grassroots programme told NAN that the footballers were billed to leave the shores of Nigeria to several countries including Turkey and Finland  for trials.

He added that the players would be looking forward to giving the Flying Eagles a run for their money in the friendly encounter on Wednesday.

“The boys, who have been assembled from across various states of the federation, camped and nurtured in Abuja for three weeks will indeed be a stern test for the Flying Eagles as they prepare for the upcoming All Africa Games.

“The Next Naija Football Super Stars will be leaving the country next week.

“The boys have been scheduled to go to Turkey first and then other countries later for trials.

“These set of young talents were picked at different stages of the grassroots programme to ensure they give a good account of themselves as they need to start their careers abroad.

“So, you are going to see the best of these boys when they play against the Flying Eagles,” he said.

The game at the Goal Project, National Stadium, Package B, is scheduled to kick at 7 a.m.
