Four Super Falcons players were named in the team of the tournament at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Nigerian stars selected are Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, and Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Ajibade earned the woman of the match award in three of the Falcons’ six matches on their way to clinching Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title. She also emerged as the best player of the tournament.

Okoronkwo made a notable impact with two goals and four assists, and was named woman of the match in the final after scoring and assisting in Nigeria’s 3-2 win.

Nnadozie, who stood out between the posts, received the award for best goalkeeper after recording four clean sheets in six games.

Alozie played a key role at right back, delivering consistently throughout the tournament. Her decisive goal against South Africa in the semi-final helped secure Nigeria’s place in the final.

Also making the team of the tournament are Morocco’s Ghizzlane Chebbak and Ibtissam Jraidi, along with South African trio Bambanani Mbane, Karabo Dhlamini, and Refiloe Jane. Ghana’s Portia Boakye and Grace Asantewaa round out the squad.

In the final on Saturday, Nigeria claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Morocco, reaffirming their dominance in women’s football on the continent.

Morocco will host the next edition of WAFCON.
