Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey have been selected in the team of the tournament for the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The 2025 AFCON Best XI was unveiled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday.
Osimhen registered four goals and two assists for the Super Eagles as Nigeria claimed AFCON bronze for the ninth time.
Lookman emerged as the player with the highest goal involvement at the tournament, scoring four goals and providing three assists. His performances earned him a place among the standout players for the second AFCON in a row.
Bassey was among Nigeria’s top performers, putting in commanding displays at the back. The 26-year-old anchored the Eagles’ defence, which kept clean sheets throughout the knockout stages.
The Best XI also features Sadio Mane, who was named the tournament’s best player, alongside Brahim Diaz, the golden boot winner and top scorer, and Yassine Bono, who claimed the best goalkeeper award.
Other players on the list include Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye, Achraf Hakimi, Moussa Niakhaté and Noussair Mazraoui.
Senegal emerged champions of the 2025 AFCON after edging Morocco 1-0 in extra time in a dramatic final, while Nigeria secured the bronze medal following a penalty shootout victory over Egypt.
