Galatasaray the right place for Osimhen – Souness

Former Liverpool star Graeme Souness has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for committing his future to Galatasaray, describing the Turkish giants as the “right place” for the prolific forward.

Osimhen became the most expensive signing in Turkish football history after Galatasaray paid Napoli €75 million ($85.74 million) to secure his services permanently. The Nigerian justified the investment with a stellar debut campaign, scoring 26 goals in 30 league appearances to fire the club to their record-extending 25th Süper Lig title.

Speaking to Futboo, Souness said Osimhen’s decision to stay was driven by more than just footballing ambition. “Some players value affection, some don’t. Victor had a great season and was loved. If being loved is important to you, Galatasaray is the right place,” he explained. “The fans adore him, he’s in sync with Okan Buruk, he knows the team — everything is positive for him there.”

Souness added that while Osimhen could have succeeded elsewhere, he might not have found the same level of happiness he enjoys in Istanbul.
