Gallagher scores first Atletico Madrid goal in win over Valencia

England midfielder Conor Gallagher netted his first goal for Atletico Madrid in their 3-0 win over Valencia.

The 24-year-old, who joined Atletico from Chelsea for £33 million last month, opened the scoring by slotting home from inside the box after a pass from Rodrigo De Paul.

Antoine Griezmann extended the lead after the break, and Julian Alvarez added his first goal for Atletico since arriving from Manchester City, scoring from close range during stoppage time.

This victory lifts Atletico to second place in La Liga, four points behind leaders Barcelona.

Gallagher also became the 12th English player to score in La Liga and the first to do so for Atletico Madrid.
