Young Boys forward Ebrima Colley has etched his name in UEFA Champions League history by scoring in the match against RB Leipzig.

At 23 years old, the forward secured the lone goal for the Swiss team in their 2-1 loss to the Bundesliga side during Wednesday night’s final Group G game.

According to reports, Colley achieved a historic feat as the first Gambian to score in the UEFA Champions League, marking Gambia as the 108th nation to have a goal scorer in this prestigious European competition.

With Young Boys already eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, the Swiss team required a positive outcome to ensure a place in the Europa League knockout stage.

The home team took the lead six minutes into the second half with a goal from Benjamin Sesko, but Colley swiftly responded two minutes later, equalizing the score.

Unfortunately, his goal was short-lived, as Emil Forsberg secured the winning goal for RB Leipzig just three minutes later.

In the alternate group match, Red Star Belgrade faced defeat against Manchester City, resulting in Young Boys moving down to the Europa League.

Ebrima Colley, the Gambian international, joined Young Boys on loan from Atalanta BC during the summer transfer window, as indicated by Transfermarkt.

Colley is anticipated to join the Gambian national team for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next month.
