On 14 March, Barcelona officially confirmed that Gavi is now available for selection for the first time in five months following his right knee meniscus operation.

Official Statement

Some players seem to represent more than just talent on the pitch. Gavi is exactly one of those players for FC Barcelona supporters. Energy, personality, and a genuine sense of what the Club stands for. The blaugrana number six is now back available for selection for FC Barcelona against Sevilla after recovering from the right knee injury that kept him out of matches for several months.

The Andalusian underwent an arthroscopy on 23 September 2025 to address a right knee internal meniscus injury. The operation required sewing the meniscus to preserve it, which meant a recovery period of about four to five months. The midfielder followed every step of the recovery process and has now reached the point where he can return.

Putting in the work to recover

Gavi had featured earlier in the season, playing 20 minutes in the opening gameweek against Mallorca and 45 minutes in the second against Levante. However, he began to feel discomfort in his knee and had to stop playing, which eventually led to the operation. Since 23 September, he has gone through 172 days of intense rehabilitation to regain match readiness.

Ready to return

The midfielder is once again available for selection for Hansi Flick, meaning Gavi could potentially feature against Sevilla, a notable opponent considering he is from Andalusia. If he steps onto the pitch, it would mark his return after 205 days away from competitive action.

His availability is a major boost for both the team and the supporters, who can once again watch a La Masia graduate who stands out for his character, passion, and relentless approach to everything related to Barca.
