Gnonto goal helps Leeds defeat Swansea City
Leeds United surged to the top of the Championship for the first time this season with a dramatic 4-3 victory at Swansea City, sealed by a 91st-minute winner from Willy Gnonto, just moments after Swansea had equalized.
Leeds had an early chance in the second minute when Joe Rodon flicked on a Joe Rothwell corner to Dan James, but the winger fired over from close range.
Instead, Swansea took the lead in the eighth minute with a controversial free kick awarded for an alleged foul by Ao Tanaka on the edge of the area.
Despite Tanaka seeming to win the ball, Swansea capitalized on the set piece. Matt Grimes swung in a perfect delivery, and Harry Darling volleyed home amid poor marking.
Leeds quickly sought to respond, but Manor Solomon failed to direct his shot from a Sam Byram cross. However, Solomon found the back of the net in the 19th minute to level the score.
Brenden Aaronson won possession in midfield, and Pascal Struijk delivered a brilliant pass to release Dan James down the right.
James provided a low cross into the box, and Solomon was perfectly positioned to tap in his first goal for Leeds.
