Gombe United beat Enyimba 2-0, Plateau United down Heartland

The reigning champions, Enyimba of Aba, kicked off their campaign for another Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title on a disappointing note yesterday, succumbing to a 0-2 defeat against Gombe United in their second-week match.

The Peoples Elephant, who have already exited the CAF Champions League, conceded goals from Ahmed Jimoh in the 43rd and 90th minutes.

In other matches on the same day, Niger Tornadoes secured a 1-0 victory against Rivers United, Plateau United outplayed Heartland with a 1-0 win, and Lobi Stars triumphed over Sunshine Stars in a high-scoring match with a score of 3-2.

Remo Stars secured a 2-1 victory against Enugu Rangers, Bendel Insurance defeated 3SC 2-0, Akwa United played to a goalless draw against newcomers Sporting Lagos, Kano Pillars edged out their neighbors Katsina United 1-0, while Kwara United clinched a 1-0 victory against Abia Warriors.
