Erling Haaland’s first four-goal performance in the Premier League brought Manchester City closer to an unprecedented fourth consecutive English league title, leaving them just three wins away.

Following Arsenal’s earlier win over Bournemouth, City had no room for error and responded brilliantly.

The team benefitted from an early break when referee Craig Pawson awarded a questionable penalty in the 12th minute. Haaland converted by sending Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa the wrong way and scored from the spot once more just before halftime after being fouled by Nelson Semedo.

Additionally, Haaland scored a remarkable far-post header from Rodri’s cross, demonstrating his aerial prowess by rising high and unmarked to redirect the ball into the corner.

Just after Hwang Hee-chan scored for the visitors, Haaland completed his quartet by latching onto a superb lofted pass from Phil Foden.

This impressive performance brought Haaland’s tally to 25 Premier League goals for the season, putting him five goals ahead of Alexander Isak and Cole Palmer in the race for the Golden Boot.

Julian Alvarez added the final goal five minutes before the end, placing City just one point behind Arsenal but with three games left to play compared to Arsenal’s two.
