Erling Haaland inspired Manchester City to a 3-1 comeback victory over Chelsea, moving them into the Premier League’s top four at the Blues’ expense on Saturday.

City endured a dreadful start when debutant Abdukodir Khusanov’s error gifted Chelsea the opener, with Noni Madueke capitalising to score.

However, Josko Gvardiol equalised before Haaland showcased his strength and skill to chip past Robert Sanchez 22 minutes from time. The Norwegian later set up Phil Foden, who sealed the win with City’s third goal.

Chelsea, who have won just once in their last seven league games, saw their defensive frailties exposed again as Sanchez’s poor positioning allowed Haaland to score the decisive goal.

City’s resurgence comes as they aim for Champions League qualification next season, just days before a crucial clash against Club Brugge to salvage their current European campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to debut Khusanov and Omar Marmoush had mixed results. Khusanov’s early mistake handed Chelsea the lead, while Marmoush showed flashes of promise but failed to convert key chances.

Gvardiol’s left-back runs created the breakthrough, and Haaland’s clinical performance ensured City secured a vital victory, with the Norwegian now on 24 goals this season.
