Harry Kane sets personal record with brace in Bayern victory

England forward Harry Kane scored twice in Bayern Munich’s victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, achieving a personal milestone with his highest goal tally in a single season.

At 30 years old, Kane has hit the net 42 times across all competitions in his first season with Bayern, surpassing his previous record of 41 goals with Tottenham in the 2017-18 season.

He scored his first goal by slotting in a cross from nine yards out, and later added a penalty in the second half.

These goals bring Kane’s career total to 400 for both club and country.

He has scored against 16 of the 17 other Bundesliga teams this season, tying the record for a single season shared with legends like Gerd Müller (1966-67 & 1969-70), Ailton (2003-04), and Robert Lewandowski (2019-20 and 2020-21).

Additionally, Kane is the first player to either score or assist against all 17 teams in his debut Bundesliga season. He assisted in a match against Freiburg in October, although he did not score against them in their two encounters.

Despite needing treatment for a knee injury during the second half, Kane continued playing. He remains six goals shy of Lewandowski’s record of 41 Bundesliga goals in a season, with three matches left.

Bayern currently stands second in the Bundesliga, 11 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen, who are set to play Stuttgart later on Saturday.

Bayern’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, announced he will leave at the end of the season and stated he would not be swayed by a fan petition urging him to stay.
