Harry Kane to miss Bayern’s final game with back injury

Harry Kane will miss Bayern Munich’s final Bundesliga game of the season against Hoffenheim on Saturday due to a persistent back injury.

Kane, 30, has been sidelined since being substituted during Bayern’s Champions League semi-final second leg defeat to Real Madrid on May 8.

At the time of Kane’s withdrawal, Bayern were leading 1-0 at the Bernabeu but conceded two late goals, resulting in their elimination from the competition.

Kane’s absence from Bayern’s season finale is likely to be a concern for England manager Gareth Southgate, who is set to announce his preliminary squad for this summer’s European Championship on Tuesday.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel stated,  “Harry is receiving treatment with his personal doctor – he’s no longer here and won’t travel to Hoffenheim.

“It was really a borderline decision in Madrid. We tried it with treatment and it got worse with every move that he made, so there was no chance for him participating in practice.”

Kane has scored 44 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Bayern since joining from Tottenham last summer.

Bayern have failed to win the Bundesliga for the first time in 12 years but can secure second place behind champions Bayer Leverkusen with victory at Hoffenheim.
