Harry Kane will join up with England despite ankle injury – Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich has reported that Harry Kane sustained a left ankle injury on Saturday; however, he is still expected to join the England squad for international duty.
Kane found the net against Darmstadt in the Bundesliga but was later substituted after falling in the goalmouth while stretching to reach the ball.
Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel explained that the striker “slipped and fell into the net, twisting his ankle” during the incident.
England will host Brazil in a friendly on March 23 and Belgium three days later.
“The striker has still travelled to international duty with England and will be treated by the team doctors there, in close consultation with the FC Bayern medical department,” said a statement from the German club.
Kane took his tally to 31 league goals with his effort against Darmstadt as he set a new record for the most goals in a Bundesliga debut campaign, overtaking the previous mark set by Uwe Seeler (30) for Hamburg in 1963-64 – which was the first season of the Bundesliga.
“When Harry goes off it’s never a good sign because Harry never goes off when there’s still goals to score,” added Tuchel after the match.
Kane holds the record for the most goals scored for England, with 62 goals in 89 appearances.
