I don’t care about job speculation – Ten Hag
The Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, states that he is unconcerned about the speculation regarding his position.
There are reports suggesting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group is contemplating a coaching shake-up this summer.
Gareth Southgate, the England manager, has been associated with the role, but he dismissed such talk as “completely disrespectful,” emphasizing that it is Ten Hag’s current job.
“You know at Man United there will always be noise, rumours around the club, the manager, the players,” Ten Hag said.
“We are focusing on the process, we are focusing on the team to play better, to improve the way of play, so I don’t care about [it].”
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has also reportedly been looked at by United since Ineos took over football operations, but he has denied knowing of any interest from Old Trafford.
In Ten Hag’s inaugural season at United, the team secured the Carabao Cup and finished third in the Premier League. However, their current campaign sees them in sixth place after experiencing 11 defeats in 28 league matches.
Nevertheless, United’s recent 4-3 triumph over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals provided a memorable highlight before the latest international break.
Ten Hag faced early pressure as United manager, notably following a 2-1 loss to Brighton and a 4-0 defeat against Brentford.
This Saturday evening, Ten Hag’s United side faces Brentford once again.
Acknowledging the constant scrutiny that comes with managing a club like United, Ten Hag understands the ongoing scrutiny of his position.
He said: “I was trainer at Ajax. Similar.
“You get used to it, so we don’t care. Players don’t care, I don’t care. We are together in the boat and we know we have to perform and get the right results.”
