Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has accepted responsibility for the team’s poor performance during his tenure.

Potter was appointed by Chelsea in September 2022, following the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel. The club paid approximately £21 million in compensation to Brighton for Potter and several members of his coaching staff.

Despite signing a five-year contract, Potter was dismissed after less than seven months in the role.

In a statement obtained from Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Friday, Potter said, “I take responsibility for the results.

“But the easy solution is Chelsea aren’t winning, so it must be the coach..he’s the problem. That might not be 100 per cent wrong, but it’s not 100 per cent right.”

Potter was sacked after just over six months in charge winning 12 matches, eight draws and losing 11 in all competitions.
