Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has taken to social media to celebrate his remarkable achievement in Turkey, sharing a photo of himself dressed in traditional Turkish attire alongside his new nickname, “Agabey”.

The striker uploaded the picture on Instagram after scoring twice and providing an assist in Bursaspor’s 3-0 victory over Muglaspor in the Turkish 1. Lig on Thursday. He accompanied the post with the caption, “We go ball till eternity, Kelechi Agabey.”

“Agabey” is a Turkish term of respect that means “Big Brother” or “Boss”.

The 30-year-old has now scored in 10 consecutive league matches, becoming the first player in Turkish professional league football to achieve the feat. He has found the net in all 10 appearances for Bursaspor and, including his outing for the Super Eagles, has scored in 11 consecutive matches.

Since joining Bursaspor from Celtic, Iheanacho has registered 14 goals and three assists.

The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward initially thought he had given his side the lead in the 51st minute, but a VAR review ruled out his effort for offside. He eventually broke the deadlock seven minutes later, scored his second in the 79th minute and provided the assist for substitute Hüseyin Maldar to seal the victory four minutes afterwards.

The result moves Bursaspor into second place in the Turkish 1. Lig standings with 22 points. They are two points ahead of third-placed Iğdır FK and three behind league leaders Kayserispor.

Second place currently secures one of the two automatic promotion spots to the Turkish Super Lig. Bursaspor will welcome Pendikspor on Monday as they look to maintain their promotion push.
