Inter Milan extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 15 points with a victory over Genoa.

Kristjan Asllani’s goal and an Alexis Sanchez penalty, awarded after Nicolo Barella was brought down in the box, gave the hosts a 2-0 lead within 38 minutes.

Although Johan Vasquez pulled one back for Genoa after halftime, Inter maintained their advantage to secure their ninth consecutive league triumph.

This result, their 12th consecutive victory in all competitions, propelled them 15 points clear of second-placed Juventus.

Inter has now claimed victory in 23 out of their 27 Serie A matches this season, suffering only one defeat back in September. Since their 1-1 draw against Genoa on December 29th, they have not dropped any points.
