Ipswich Town have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene for £20m.

The 22-year-old is set to undergo a medical at Portman Road, marking the end of his brief six-month return to Villa Park.

Philogene also attracted interest from European clubs, including those in La Liga, but Ipswich are poised to complete their long-standing pursuit of the England Under-21 international, with manager Kieran McKenna’s influence playing a key role.

In the summer, Ipswich had agreed a fee of around £18m with Hull, but Villa exercised their buy-back option after selling Philogene to Hull in 2023.

Hull received approximately £13.5m, as Villa had a 30% sell-on clause in the deal.

After rejoining Unai Emery’s side, Philogene made just four starts, including one against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, along with 11 substitute appearances.

Ipswich maintained their interest and have now persuaded Philogene, who was eager to work with McKenna last summer, to make the move to Suffolk.

Currently 18th in the Premier League, Ipswich are looking to strengthen their squad as they fight for survival and have already signed defender Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta.
