Bursaspor forward Kelechi Iheanacho has praised the club’s passionate supporters, describing the experience of playing in front of one of Türkiye’s largest fan bases as fantastic.

The Nigerian international has enjoyed an impressive beginning to the 2026/27 Turkish 1. Lig season, registering two goals and an assist in his first two league appearances.

Speaking to Fotomac, Iheanacho said Bursaspor’s strong home support could play a major role in helping the team remain difficult to beat at their Bursa home ground.

“It’s fantastic to play in front of one of the biggest fan groups in Türkiye.

“As long as we have their support behind us, we won’t easily lose matches in Bursa,” Iheanacho said in comments reported by Fotomac.

Iheanacho brings valuable top-level experience to Bursaspor

The 29-year-old joined Bursaspor as a free agent after departing Scottish champions Celtic, where he helped the club secure the domestic double during the 2025/26 season.

His strong start has already added momentum to Bursaspor’s promotion ambitions as the club targets a return to the Turkish top flight.

Iheanacho’s experience at the highest level is expected to prove valuable as Bursaspor look to mount a serious promotion challenge. His early goalscoring form has also placed him among the players attracting attention at the beginning of the campaign.

The striker previously featured for Manchester City and Leicester City, giving him extensive experience of European football as Bursaspor look to secure their return to the top division.
