I’ve a year left on my contract, let’s enjoy it – Salah

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has stated that he is concentrating on enjoying the final year of his contract before deciding on his future.

At 32 years old, Salah has not yet agreed to a new contract with Liverpool, and his current deal is set to expire this summer.

Last September, Liverpool turned down a £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad for Salah.

“Before the season, I was just like ‘I’ve got one year left, let’s just enjoy it and don’t think about the contract’,” Salah told Sky Sports.

“I don’t want to think about next year or the future, I just want to enjoy the last year [of my contract] and let’s see.

“The most important thing is to take one day at a time and just be grateful to be here.”

Egyptian captain Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool from Roma for £34 million in 2017 and has since scored 213 goals in 351 appearances, placing him fifth on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list.

In July 2022, Salah signed a new three-year contract, reportedly making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history with earnings exceeding £350,000 a week.

He has quickly adapted to life under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, scoring in the Dutchman’s first two Premier League games. Prior to this, Salah had only played under former manager Jürgen Klopp during his time at Anfield.

Under Klopp, Salah won every major trophy except for the Europa League.
