Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has revealed that Jamal Musiala is expected to return to action for the club in January.

Musiala sustained a broken left leg and ankle dislocation during Bayern’s Club World Cup quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain but is making excellent progress on his recovery and return to competitive football.

On Monday, Musiala completed his first light training session with the team, marking a key milestone after his extended injury layoff.

Speaking to the club’s website, Kompany confirmed that Musiala is set to come back in January.

“Jamal is close,” he said. “Hopefully next week. But I want to be very clear: zero pressure on Jamal and the medical department. Hopefully he can get in a few training sessions before Christmas.

“That would simply feel good – for the team and for him. And then his first minutes on the pitch should follow in January. That would be an ideal plan for us.”
