John Terry has praised Max Dowman after the teenage sensation made history by becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.

The 16-year-old grabbed attention on Saturday as he played a key role in Arsenal FC’s important 2-0 victory over Everton FC.

The attacking midfielder, who has been involved with Arsenal’s senior squad since the age of 14, came off the bench to assist Viktor Gyökeres’ late goal in the 89th minute. He later added his own name to the scoresheet, finishing on the counterattack deep into stoppage time.

Terry, who has observed Dowman through his coaching work in the Chelsea FC academy setup, was highly impressed by the youngster’s performance.

Posting on his TikTok account, Terry said, “Max Dowman what a player by the way,” adding, “16 years of age, almost 17, absolutely incredible.

“I watched him play against Chelsea about a year ago, and I’ve not seen anybody glide past people like this man does other than Messi.

“That’s a big, big comparison but this guy is a proper talent and will play a big part in Arsenal’s future and also England as well. But a super, super talent – and a big win for Arsenal.”

His comments underline the growing excitement around Dowman’s potential and the impact he could have for both club and country in the years ahead.
