JUST IN: Mexico thrash Super Eagles 4-0

Super Eagles home-based had a poor outing in the United states after their Mexican counterparts thrashed them 4-0 on Sunday morning.

A first half brace from Herrera with goals from Funes and Dos Santos condemed the super eagles to a disappointing defeat.

Herrera opened scoring as early as the second minutes of the game with Funes thumping in the second in the fourth minutes.

Herrera again added another goal at the early stage of the second half in the 52 minute with Dos Santos rounding up the goals in the 72 minute.

The game looked more of a white wash for the super eagles with the west African champions struggling to settle in the match.

Visa problems for head coach Austin Eguavon saw super eagles technical director,Genot Rohr took charge of the friendly match.

While skipper and experienced goal keeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa missed the tie due to injury.

The super eagles had last month loss to the indomitable lions of Cameroon 1nil in a double header international friendly with a goaless draw in the return leg.

They will now have to wait until September for the word cup qualifying match with an aim to make up for their poor performance in the recent preparatory matches.
