Kane nets goal as Bayern go six points clear in Bundesliga
Harry Kane netted his first open-play goal since November, helping Bayern Munich extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over Freiburg.
The England captain gave Bayern the lead with a powerful strike into the bottom-left corner, marking his 23rd goal of the season and his first from open play since scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 win against Augsburg on November 22.
Bayern doubled their advantage when South Korean defender Kim Min-jae headed in Joshua Kimmich’s corner for his fourth goal for the club.
Freiburg pulled one back in the 68th minute, with substitute Matthias Ginter scoring a header from a corner.
However, Bayern, the 32-time German champions, held on to secure the three points and increase their gap at the top.
Their lead was further solidified after defending champions Bayer Leverkusen dropped points, conceding an equalizer in the 85th minute in a 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig.
