Harry Kane netted two goals, securing the title of the fastest player to reach 20 goals in his Bundesliga career, as Bayern Munich triumphed over fourth-placed Stuttgart.
In his 14th Bundesliga appearance, England’s Kane swiftly capitalized on Leroy Sane’s pass, slotting the ball into an empty net within the first 90 seconds.
Despite disallowed goals for offside by Thomas Muller and Kim Min-jae, Kane extended Bayern’s lead with a close-range header for the second goal.
Kim secured the third goal with a header, marking his inaugural goal for the German champions.
Kane’s achievement is remarkable, reaching 20 league goals in just 14 Bundesliga games, shattering the previous record held by Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler, who achieved the milestone in 21 games during the league’s inaugural season in 1963-64.
Following closely, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, then with Borussia Dortmund, achieved the feat in 22 games in 2020.
In a distinct statistical achievement, Kane becomes the second player in Bundesliga history to reach 20 goals in a season at such a rapid pace, following Bayern and Germany legend Gerd Muller in the 1968-69 season.
This accomplishment puts him four goals ahead of the Bundesliga’s second-highest scorer, Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart, who had limited opportunities at the Allianz Arena.
Despite the impressive performance, Bayern remains four points behind the surprising leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who secured a 3-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier on Sunday.
Xabi Alonso’s team has maintained an undefeated streak in all 24 competitive games this season, equalling a record set by Hamburg in the 1982-83 campaign, where they went on to clinch the title and the European Cup.
