Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, on Tuesday declared the state’s intention to bid for the hosting of the 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF).
El-Rufai declared the state’s intention in Kaduna while receiving the Torch for the 2020 National Sport Festival.
Represented by the Commissioner for Sports, Kabiru Mato, he said it would be a good opportunity for Nigeria to converge on Kaduna to see the massive urban renewal projects embarked upon by the State Government.
He said the state has several world class sports facilities that would give it an edge.
“With the facilities put in place in Murtala Square, the facilities in ABS and other facilities Kaduna is a good host,” he said.
He said he was delighted to receive the torch as it shows signs of unity.
“We look forward to the NSF and we will participate in full swing and are determined to top the medal table, beating Delta, Edo and others.”
