Kvaratskhelia expresses confidence ahead of Real Madrid clash
Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has often spoken about his admiration for Real Madrid, the La Liga club.
The forward, who played a crucial role alongside Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen in leading Napoli to their first Italian Serie A title in 33 years, faces off against his ‘dream club’ in tonight’s UEFA Champions League match.
Kvaratskhelia, who remains a sensation for Napoli, addressed the media before the encounter between the two teams. He discussed various topics, including his team’s prospects of securing a victory against the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners.
According to reports the 22-year-old who has had a paradoxical start to the 2023/24 season, spoke about his excitement of playing against Real Madrid.
“It is impossible not to be happy with a night like this when you face Real Madrid in your stadium.”
The Georgian forward who scored 12 goals and assisted on 10 in 34 Serie A matches, as reported by Goal, further boosted Napoli’s chances of beating Real Madrid.
“I grew up watching Real Madrid on TV, and today I want to beat them. We’re not scared of them.”
Although Kvaratskhelia is optimistic about his team’s chances of winning, it’s worth noting that Napoli has yet to secure a victory against the Spanish club. In four previous encounters, their best result was a 1-1 draw at home during the 1987/88 season, as reported by UEFA.com.
As Rudi Garcia’s team aims for a victory against Madrid, this match could also serve as an audition for the Georgian forward, especially considering recent reports linking him with a potential transfer to Real Madrid.
