Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala, has received accolades over her nomination for the African Women’s Player of the Year award.
La Liga on Monday congratulated the Barcelona forward over the nomination.
Oshoala is one of the three Nigerians in the 10-woman shortlist, which also has Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and Uchenna Kanu.
La Liga took to their Instagram account to congratulate the Nigeria forward in a message, which was written in Pidgin English.
“We congratulate Super Falcons and Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala, on her nomination for the African Women’s Player of the Year award,” the post read when translated.
Oshoala has been in fine form for Barcelona since joining from Chinese side Dalian Quanjian.
She has scored 16 goals in 22 matches since joining Barca in January.
She was also on target at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, scoring Nigeria’s second goal in their 2-0 win over South Korea.
She has won the African Women’s Player of the Year award three times in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
