Lacroix set to join Crystal Palace in deal worth up to £18m

Wolfsburg center-back Maxence Lacroix is set to join Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £18 million, pending a successful medical.

The 24-year-old, who has less than a year left on his contract, has been a target for the Eagles throughout this transfer window.

Lacroix, who joined Wolfsburg in 2020 and made 130 appearances for the club, previously played under Palace manager Oliver Glasner when he was in charge of the German side.

Palace recently sold center-back Joachim Andersen to Fulham in a deal valued at up to £30 million, while England international Marc Guehi is reportedly being pursued by Newcastle.

Additionally, central defender Chadi Riad, who joined Palace from Barcelona in June, was forced to leave the pitch due to injury during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Norwich, potentially causing a defensive dilemma for Glasner ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Chelsea.
