Frank Lampard singled out Super Eagles target, Fikayo Tomori, for special praise after Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, The Punch report.

The Chelsea centre-back was up against former Blues man Mohamed Salah and did an excellent job keeping the Egyptian quiet for most parts of the game.

N’Golo Kante’s superb strike gave Chelsea hope of a late comeback, but Lampard heaped praises on 21-year-old Tomori for his performance.

“We end up not being surprised by Kante,” Lampard said after the game.

“I have to single out Tomori as well, to go up against Salah. Everything he did today was class.”

While Liverpool had spells of dominance, the Premier League leaders held off a serious assault from Chelsea in the final stages. Mason Mount and Michy Batshuayi came close to equalising for Chelsea and Lampard believes his side didn’t deserve to lose.

“On the performance yes, (we were the better side). The second half especially.”

“It’s moments that cost you. The second half is where we want to be, energy passion and moving the ball quickly. We need points though.

“I felt that we were in the game,” he continued.

“Tammy’s chance, the VAR and the free-kick from them was fantastic. “I don’t mind losing, I won’t take Sheffield United at home in the second half, but I can take this against Liverpool.”
