Leicester City is once more “daring to dream” of FA Cup glory, according to Foxes defender Conor Coady, following their victory over Premier League side Bournemouth.
Abdul Fatawu’s extra-time goal fired the Championship leaders into the quarter-finals for the first time since they won the competition in 2021.
“This club knows more than anyone how good this competition is,” Coady told BBC Radio Leicester.
“It’s a massive one for all of us and we keep getting excited by it.”
Three years ago, Leicester secured their first-ever FA Cup triumph by defeating Chelsea in the final, marking a historic moment for the East Midlands club, which had previously suffered defeat in all four of their prior final appearances.
Now competing as a second-tier club with aspirations to contend for the cup once again, Coady affirms that they unquestionably believe in their ability to achieve this goal.
“100% you dare to dream,” he said.
“Firstly we have just come in and said ‘let’s go again’. It’s one game to go before we hit Wembley and we are in a semi-final.
“We will see who we get, we will see what we do and we will prepare right.”
Having earned their place in Wednesday’s draw by defeating a top-flight team away from home, Leicester also managed to halt a losing streak with their victory on the south coast.
Losses to Middlesbrough and second-placed Leeds United resulted in Leicester’s Championship lead diminishing from 12 points to six within a week.
Next up for Enzo Maresca’s Foxes is a home fixture against relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
“This game was important to bounce back from two losses,” Coady said.
“I think it was big, we were all excited for the game, all the lads put in a hell of a shift and we played really well, but it was important to bounce back because losing two on the spin isn’t something we wanted to do – even though we played well in certain areas.
“We will make sure we prepare right for the weekend, because it’s a huge game and we all understand that – supporters and players as well.”
