Leicester close to signing Crystal Palace’s Ayew

Leicester City are nearing the signing of Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew for an initial £5 million.

The Foxes aim to add at least two offensive players, and Ayew, 32, is set to join the King Power Stadium in a deal that could rise to £8 million.

Leicester, newly promoted, struggled with their attacking options in Monday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Tottenham. Jamie Vardy, who scored the equalizer, started despite being ruled out due to injury just three days earlier by manager Steve Cooper.

Cooper, who will lead Leicester to Fulham on Saturday, has been vocal about his need for additional forward options, and Ayew’s Premier League experience is seen as a valuable asset.

Ayew has made 212 appearances for Palace since joining on loan from Swansea in 2018, scoring 23 goals. He was a second-half substitute in Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Sunday.

Previously, Ayew played for Aston Villa starting in 2015 before moving to Swansea two years later.

Ayew will join Oliver Skipp, who signed from Tottenham for £20 million on Monday, as a new addition to Leicester’s squad at the King Power Stadium.
