Bayer Leverkusen preserved their ten-point advantage at the summit of the Bundesliga by securing a win against a 10-man Wolfsburg.

The visitors found themselves with a daunting challenge ahead after Moritz Jenz received his marching orders in the 28th minute due to a second yellow card.

Leverkusen seized the advantage eight minutes later when former Southampton and Burnley forward Nathan Tella nodded in to put them ahead.

Four minutes from full time, Florian Wirtz latched onto Exequiel Palacios’ delivery to extend the lead to 2-0.

This victory marked the sixth consecutive win for Xabi Alonso’s team.

They currently lead the table with 67 points, while defending champions Bayern Munich sit in second place with 57 points following Thomas Tuchel’s side’s 8-1 demolition of Mainz 05.
