Lewis Dunk’s header in stoppage time resulted in another Premier League draw for Everton, as 10-man Brighton secured a point at Amex Stadium.
Both goals were scored by central defenders, with Dunk nodding in Pascal Gross’ cross five minutes into added time to equalize Jarrad Branthwaite’s stunning opener.
Branthwaite showcased his attacking prowess by breaking the deadlock with a precise first-time shot into the top corner from 15 yards out after a free-kick landed at his feet.
Initially, it appeared Everton were poised for a crucial victory in their relegation battle, especially after Brighton’s Billy Gilmour received a red card for a high tackle on Amadou Onana.
However, Dunk’s late header extended Everton’s winless streak in the league to nine games. They currently cling to a one-point lead over the relegation zone, having played one more match than 18th-placed Luton Town.
