Liverpool manager Arne Slot marked his first game at Anfield with a decisive 4-1 victory over Sevilla.

Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp, led his team into the match against the La Liga side following pre-season wins against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United during their tour in the United States.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring for Liverpool with a first-time left-foot volley from a Trent Alexander-Arnold pass.

In their first pre-season appearances, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk, and Alexis Mac Allister all started for the Reds.

Diaz added two more goals before halftime, assisted by Jota and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Sevilla’s Peque Fernandez pulled one back after the break, but 17-year-old Liverpool substitute Trey Nyoni sealed the win with a well-taken goal.

Liverpool later faced Las Palmas at Anfield in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Darwin Nunez made his first pre-season appearance since returning from Copa America duty with Uruguay, while Scotland left-back Andy Robertson, returning from injury, came closest to scoring in a goalless draw when his shot hit the post.

In a parallel development, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca oversaw his first match at Stamford Bridge, securing a 1-1 draw against Italian champions Inter Milan.

Enzo Maresca took over as Chelsea manager from Mauricio Pochettino this summer, and for his debut, he had forward Cole Palmer and defender Marc Cucurella available following their participation in Euro 2024.

Both players contributed to the match, where Marcus Thuram initially put Inter ahead before Lesley Ugochukwu secured a last-minute equalizer for Chelsea.

During halftime, Chelsea introduced their new signing, Pedro Neto, to the fans. The Portuguese forward joined the club for an initial fee of £51.3 million, with potential add-ons of £2.6 million.

Arsenal, who have finished second to Manchester City in the past two seasons, concluded their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lyon. William Saliba and Gabriel both scored headers from Declan Rice corners in the first half.

Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori, who joined Arsenal from Bologna this summer, made his debut by replacing Oleksandr Zinchenko in the second half.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, while his teammate and fellow centre-back Joachim Andersen has attracted a £20 million bid from Fulham.

Despite these transfer speculations, both started for Palace in their 1-1 draw with Nantes. Jean-Charles Castelletto scored for Nantes before Daichi Kamada equalized for Palace.
