Liverpool have rejected a proposal from Newcastle United that involved Anthony Gordon moving to Anfield and Jarell Quansah heading in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
The Anfield club deemed the offer unsuitable for them, despite their admiration for 23-year-old forward Gordon.
Gordon, who joined Newcastle in a £45m transfer deal in January 2023, is currently with the England squad at Euro 2024, making a late substitute appearance in Tuesday’s goalless draw against Slovenia, his sole outing in the tournament thus far.
Paris St-Germain also hold an interest in Gordon, who scored 11 league goals for Newcastle last season and was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2023-24.
Liverpool did not table any counteroffer and are unwilling to part with 21-year-old Quansah. The young centre-back established himself as a regular in the first team last season and was included in England’s preliminary squad for Euro 2024, narrowly missing out on the final 26-man roster.
Moreover, Liverpool possess ample depth in their forward ranks with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota among their options.
BBC Sport has reached out to Newcastle for comment on the matter.
