Ademola Lookman scored twice as Atalanta delivered a stunning 3-0 victory over Serie A leaders Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Serie A’s top scorer, Mateo Retegui, was unexpectedly benched, but Lookman took charge, leading Atalanta to hand Napoli their first defeat since the season opener.

Retegui entered the game with 14 minutes left and found the net in stoppage time, marking his 11th goal in 11 matches.

With this win, Atalanta moved up to second place, although they could be overtaken by Inter Milan if the defending champions win against Venezia later on Sunday.

Atalanta opened the scoring when Charles de Ketelaere headed the ball into the path of former Everton forward Lookman, who slotted it into the bottom corner.

Napoli nearly responded immediately, but Scott McTominay’s powerful strike rattled the post.

De Ketelaere later burst down the right flank, slipping past two defenders before setting up Lookman, who placed his shot into the far corner.

Retegui was eventually subbed on for De Ketelaere, sealing the win with a well-taken volley into the bottom corner.
