Ademola Lookman has urged Atletico Madrid to remain upbeat despite their slim loss to Real Betis in LaLiga.
The team coached by Diego Simeone suffered a 1–0 home defeat on Sunday night at the Metropolitano Stadium, as Brazilian winger Antony scored the winning goal just before the half-hour mark.
Lookman, who was featuring in his first LaLiga match for Atletico Madrid, appeared to have scored on debut, but his goal was later disallowed for offside.
Although disappointing, the defeat was Atletico’s first home loss of the league campaign.
Looking back on the encounter, the 28-year-old admitted it was a significant personal milestone, even if the final result was not what the team had hoped for.
“Not the result we wanted, but we stay positive.
” It was a very special moment for me to make my debut at the Metropolitano. Aupa Atleti,” Lookman wrote on X.
