Alexis Mac Allister netted a dramatic 97th-minute winner as Liverpool defeated Nottingham Forest in a frantic finale at the City Ground.

The Argentinian, who had just seen an effort chalked off for handball moments before, forced the ball home from close range in front of thousands of ecstatic Liverpool supporters.
Those fans then endured another tense pause, but Virgil van Dijk — whose downward header was kept out by Stefan Ortega before Mac Allister slotted in the rebound — was judged to be onside.
This time, Mac Allister’s celebrations went ahead. Earlier, the video assistant referee had overturned what would have been a lucky strike for him.
Ortega had produced an excellent stop to keep out Hugo Ekitike, and when Ola Aina attempted to clear, his effort struck Mac Allister’s elbow and found the net.
The win lifts Liverpool level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea and fifth-placed Manchester United.
