Manchester City were pushed to the brink by Southampton in the FA Cup, but they rallied from a goal down to secure a 2–1 victory and reach the final for a fourth consecutive year.
The in-form Championship side held City off for much of the match and appeared set for a memorable upset when Finn Azaz curled in a goal with just 11 minutes left.
City continued to press against a resilient Southampton defence, and their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute when Jeremy Doku’s deflected shot brought them back level.
With extra time looming, Nico Gonzalez delivered a moment of top-flight brilliance, unleashing a powerful strike from 25 yards that rocketed into the top corner to seal the win.
Pep Guardiola’s side remain in contention for a domestic treble and will face either Leeds or Chelsea in the final.
