Manchester City has secured the services of Claudio Echeverri, an Under-17 midfielder from River Plate in Argentina.
City is set to pay approximately £12.5 million for Echeverri, who has committed to a four-and-a-half-year contract, extending until 2028.
The 18-year-old, with six first-team appearances for River Plate, will continue with the Argentine club until the end of 2024.
City had previously arranged a similar agreement with River for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez in January 2022.
During the U17 World Cup in November, Echeverri served as Argentina’s captain and notably scored a hat-trick in their 3-0 victory over Brazil in the quarter-finals.
Wrapping up the tournament with five goals, Argentina secured a fourth-place finish after losing in the third-place play-off.
