Manchester United have reached an agreement to transfer central defender Willy Kambwala to Villarreal.
Reports indicate that they will receive an initial payment of €5.5m (£4.63m), with potential add-ons that could increase the total fee to €11.5m (£9.68m).
Additionally, United have secured a buy-back option and negotiated a significant portion of any future transfer fee for the 19-year-old.
Kambwala is set to undergo a medical in Spain, with the completion of the deal anticipated within the coming days.
The French youth international had one year remaining on his contract but turned down United’s latest contract proposal.
Kambwala seized his opportunity last season, making 10 appearances as manager Erik ten Hag dealt with injuries in the central defensive position.
Given United’s efforts to reinforce their defensive options and navigate financial regulations, they view this transfer deal for a homegrown talent as a pragmatic decision.
