Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is in a tight spot to regain fitness in time for the FA Cup final after sustaining a muscle injury during training.
The club predicts that the 31-year-old will need ‘about three weeks’ to recover.
United are set to face the current champions, Manchester City, at Wembley on Saturday, 25 May.
The England international is the latest to join a growing list of defensive players sidelined due to injury, including Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Willy Kambwala, and Jonny Evans, who have all been out for varying durations in recent weeks.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has stepped in to fill Maguire’s role in central defense for the past three matches.
Jonny Evans, who had returned to training last week, was initially thought to be available for Monday’s game against Crystal Palace.
