Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe says that fans need to exercise some patience in light of his investment in the club.
In February, Ratcliffe finalized a £1.25 billion transaction to acquire a 27.7% share in United.
The 71-year-old remarked that he is approximately “10 km” into the process of rebuilding the club, which currently sits seventh in the Premier League.
“It’s a long journey,” he said. “The fans are impatient and I have some sympathy with that.
“It’s a journey and people, whether they like it or not, have to be a bit patient.”
Ratcliffe spoke to BBC Sport on Sunday following his participation in the London Marathon, just before heading to Wembley to witness United’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City.
Despite squandering a three-goal advantage and being pushed to extra time by Championship side Coventry, the Red Devils managed to secure a spot in the final.
Ultimately, Erik ten Hag’s team emerged victorious, winning 4-2 on penalties.
